About usWho we are and what we do
Recytyre is the management company for end-of-life tyres in Belgium. It was founded in 1998 by the 6 leading tyre manufacturers and importers, with several federations represented within Traxio. With the mandatory take-back scheme for end-of-life tyres in mind, environmental agreements have been concluded with the authorities to translate the legal texts into practice and detail the obligations and objectives. In 2018, our 759 members put a total of 75.110 tons of new tyres on the Belgian market. 41 partners about 86.575 tons of end-of-life tyres at 5.152 collection points. The used tyres were processed by 101 (pre)processing companies, delivering 96,4% material recovery.
Recytyre is committed to giving every tyre a sustainable, valuable and environmentally friendly future. As a managing company, Recytyre encourages the sustainable use of tyres and stands for efficient collection and recycling of those.
Why this event?
According to this mission, Recytyre wants to contribute to the sensitization and information of countless potential users about the industrial opportunities offered by rubber crumb, issued from the recycling of end-of-life tyres, as a valuable replacement for scarce basic raw materials. The final goal is after all not the production of rubber crumb, but the use of it to produce sustainable products in the most economically responsible manner. With this in mind, the GREEN.er fund was set up in collaboration with the King Baudouin Foundation and is working towards diversification of outlets for raw materials resulting from the recycling of used tyres in Belgium. During this event, we want to look, amongst other things, at several projects financed by this fund.
